choosing-up
Justin Smith was a quiet, respectful 11-year-old with an infectious smile and a desire to help others. While he loved camping, swimming and playing the drums, baseball was his passion.

In memory of Justin, Martin said Smith's family placed a flower memorial along the shoulder of Indiana 930, where Smith's body was found."East Allen County Schools is shocked and grieved to learn of the tragic accident that cost Justin Smith's life," wrote Superintendent Jeff Abbott. "At times such as these, our individual and collective faiths are put to the ultimate test.

at the funeral, flowers, figurines of angels and photographs of Smith filled the room. About 100 balloons - some of his favorite cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants - dotted the service area. A baseball cap was placed in Smith's casket, and the funeral service started with the song, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."
